Lunas thrive in deciduous forests where their caterpillars feed on the
leaves of hickory, walnut and sumac. Like others in the "Saturniidae"
family, Luna moths do not eat. In fact, they have no mouths! During their
short one week lifespan, their main purpose is to find a mate and
perpetuate the species. I consider Lunas to be the most beautiful moths in
North America.
Luna Moth on Fuschia
Nighttime Treasures

God makes jewels
In the night,
On emerald wings
They take their flight.
Sometimes He shares
The wondrous sight -
A Luna Moth
At my porch light.
